When does a job site need a light tower?
Any time work continues after dusk, any time crews work inside a structure without permanent lighting, and any time the public walks a site in the dark. In practice that means paving and utility crews on second shift, event load in and load out, parking areas at evening festivals, and restoration work where the power is out and nobody is waiting for it to come back. Security is the other driver. A lit site is a harder target overnight than a dark one, which is why lighting and temporary fence rental tend to land on the same order. How much area does one light tower cover?
Coverage depends on mast height, lamp type and how much the site absorbs or reflects light. An open gravel lot lights up with far fewer towers than a site broken up by walls, stacked material and equipment. Rather than quote a coverage radius we have not verified for the units on our trailers, we walk the site plan with you: total square footage, where crews will actually be working, what the mast has to clear, and whether overhead wires or tree canopy are in the way. Sites needing multiple towers usually do better with units at the corners aimed inward than one tower in the middle throwing shadows behind everything.
Do light towers need a power source?
No, and that is the point of them. Each tower carries its own engine driven generator, so it lights a site with no utility connection and no temporary service. If your job needs power for tools or a job shack rather than lighting alone, that is different equipment, covered on temporary power pole. Where a job needs both, we schedule them together through construction site services so you are not coordinating two delivery windows. Fuel and service intervals are quoted with the unit, since a tower running every night burns a tank far faster than one used two evenings a week.
Where should a light tower be placed on site?
A tower is a towed trailer with a raised mast, so placement has three constraints: the truck has to reach the spot, the ground has to be firm and level enough for the outriggers, and the mast needs vertical clearance. Overhead power lines are the one that ends jobs, and they get checked before the mast goes up, not after. Beyond that, aim to light the work and the walking routes rather than the property line, and keep the tower out of the path crews use to move material. How much does light tower rental cost in Charlotte?
Tower pricing is quoted per job, driven by how many units you need, how long they stay and how often we return to fuel and service them. We do not post a flat rate, because one unit on a two night event and four units running six weeks of night paving are different orders in every respect. Can I rent a light tower for an event or an emergency?
Yes to both. Evening events are a large share of our tower work, whether that is a parking field, a vendor row or a stage area needing light for load out after the crowd leaves. Planners usually bundle towers with restrooms from festival restroom rental so the temporary footprint lands in one order. Crews working after hours still need restrooms, and OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) sets that at one toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then one seat and one urinal per 40 above 20.
